Yay for dark elves! Especially ones going "rawr" as they land upon a dozing city, recklessly jumping off their draconic steeds and using magic to slow the fall. Inspired by dreams and other fun things, although not any one in particular.
The spell effects were quite fun to do. I got a trial version of FontCreator by High-Logic and made a rune font, with different squiggles for caps and regular letters. Then in Photoimpact wrote bits of text using the self-made font (which may or may not contain a few lines from the 'I'm a little Teapot' song, things to do with rhubarb from a certain game and a Terry Pratchett quote). Afterwards I wrapped the text in a circle (modified Bend Text function from Photoimpact) and the rest is perspective adjustments in 3d space and then playing with zoom blur, camera motion blur and colors in Painter.
Corel Painter 9, Ulead Photoimpact 8, Wacom Intuos 3, don't remember how long it took but certainly longer than intended.

Edit: fixed the hand/arm after figuring out that it was bent the wrong way, oops. Thanks for your crits!
The first impression of this picture was stunning and now I notice more and more details. Interesting angle you've chosen here. I simply LOVE your picture.
I love the wings of the spell, and how they echo the dragon's wings, and also his billowing coat. Everything about the spell looks amazing, the runes, the wings, the magic circles, everything's just fantastic.
