Artist's Comments

Update: since there were requests for this and since I'm awake enough to put together something coherent (posted the pic at 5am my time ;P last night), here's what it's all about. It's based on my dreams, the character being as close as possible to a shape that I sometimes take upon when dreaming, the green (and tornado) representing the color that folks who are occasionally after that character for whatever reason tend to wear, the ruins are there for my habit of roof-hopping in dreams, the sea is there for the unknown. And the butterflies are something that I've been drawing for years absolutely everywhere, and to me they symbolise something fragile but at the same time certain immortality of the spirit.

And a sidenote about wings, I know the shape is really strange, but that's how they're supposed to be, without folds or fingers that you'd see on typical bat wings, just one long pointy thingy and a really thick membrane.

And the white fluttering creatures and winged figure's right hand with the glowing white sparkles :)

If all the transposed elements would tangentialize, everything else follows.

lovely liiga.... absolutely beautiful... I love the tourquoise (sp?) shape in the sky. And the waves are top notch.

The figure is infinitely interesting... raises so many questions... why is it gray? is it in fact clothed? what does it hold in its hand? what is its attachment to the whtie butterflies? Not that they should be answered, but its a beautiful and mystifying piece nevertheless :)

the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

Excellent picture! Very creative, I love the waves and the sky, great job :D

Amazing, magical painting. The waves are incredible and wet-looking and transparent-looking. It looks almost like the sea spray is turning into the white butterflies. The girl's anatomy is great and her wings are different than the ordinary and fit very believably on the girl. The light effects are perfect and the colors magical. It's all so original and creative. I could go on, but I'm sure you're tired of hearing me sing praises to this picture.

I am very curious as to the meaning of this piece. I'd love to hear what you have to say about it.

Anyway, awesome painting.

Let it flow.

This is quite beautiful. I love the colours and composition of the piece, and despite the meticulous attention to detail there's a lovely simplicity to it which really works. I am obviously curious about it's 'personal meaning'.

wow thats amazing, I REALLY love this one! in fact +fav for the first time in ages. the only this that I can see remotly wrong is the wings could maybe use a bit more texture but I'm guess it had that before you resized it.
