Fly, fly, dragonflies,
You shall be my little spies,
You shall be my seeing eyes,
Help me tell the truth from lies,
Make me soar through thousand skies,
Fly, my little dragonflies.

I've no idea what hit me, but obviously it left a mark. I'm going to blame Eric, whom none of you know, for getting me into insect mood by showing me a site with tons of insect species. As a result I've been up till 4am and been drawing creepy things. But that's ok, I love it anyways.

Tools: Corel Painter 9, Ulead Photoimpact 8 (all the dragonflies are vectors), Wacom Intuos 3, mousey.

Detail shots: face, a dragonfly, a whole KNOT of dragonflies, another dragonfly.

Oh and if some bright spark decides to use this for something other than looking at it, I'm going to go and turn you into confetti. Make your own dragonflies, dammit. =P

Edit: adjusted the length of the arm and added toes. She should look better now. ^^

OOH i love that idea, making the wings out of the... the thi.. the dragonfliesies. :)

I also love how she's kinda like... hovering. With her hand "holding" her up. Its uuber awesome

And finally, where's the quote from (in the discription)? I like it muchly

Wow, this is really awe-inspiring. The whole concept is so imaginative. The dragonflies as wings and hair, so wonderfully rendered. The color and lighting are perfect for setting the tone of this piece. And the floating just off the ground. It took a delightfully creative mind to come up with this concept, this piece. Finally, the little poem is a masterpiece almost of itself and fits this pic so perfect. I'd love to have a copy of that poem. You are truly multi-talented.
